The J.M. Cope team is excited to showcase our recent work on the Anderson Community Kitchen, a significant project that underscores our commitment to community development. This interior buildout involved transforming a 3,000 square-foot tenant space owned by the City of Anderson into a versatile culinary hub for the collective use of local business owners. The facility now includes two fully-equipped kitchens, a packaging room, a dishwash room, dry storage, a walk-in cooler and freezer, as well as a retail area. The renovation also featured new wall partitions, high end finishes, resilient flooring, and essential kitchen equipment, complemented by site improvements such as an exterior utility/equipment yard, a new grease trap, and a grinder pump station.
As noted in recent coverage from WSPA News, Anderson’s Assistant City Manager Andrew Strickland emphasized the impact of this new resource, noting its importance for local food trucks, small businesses, and home-based food makers seeking to advance their business to the next level. As he shared, the Anderson Community Kitchen provides a one-stop shop for culinary creators with amenities including ovens, stoves, deep fryers, and both dry and refrigerated storage space. The facility allows users to rent space by the hour, prepare their products, and sell them to the community, eliminating the need for costly investments in their own commercial kitchens.
J.M. Cope is proud to have contributed to this project, which will play a crucial role in supporting local food entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth throughout Anderson.
