The BMX Welcome & Support Facility was completed in collaboration with Riverwalk, Rock Hill Sports Tourism, and 505 Design. The buildings created a gateway to the BMX track, concessions, meeting space, restrooms, bike sales, and overlook. The buildings included a mix of wood frame, steel, masonry, aluminum metal panels, and extensive glass work.
The project’s tight budget required J.M. Cope to work with the structural team to value engineer the framing systems and main tube columns supporting the building. The project was delivered through a Team Build process similar to progressive design-build, with the exception of the owner holding the design contract.
