Most of our team members have been in the construction industry for 20+ years; they understand how to manage projects in all stages of construction, address the needs of stakeholders and public interest, balance budget constraints, maintain construction schedules, and keep our team members and the public safe.

After graduating from Clemson University in 1972, Marty Cope spent nearly ten years in and around the Charlotte, NC, construction market before striking out on his own.
In November 1980, he opened J.M. Cope Construction Company, Inc., a firm founded on a solid foundation of integrity, quality, and faith.
In 2011, after 30 years at the helm, Marty passed the reins to his son, Andrew. As the son of J.M. Cope’s founder, Andrew grew up in the business, learning from an early age what managing a successful company required while also gaining invaluable real-world experience that sparked a life-long passion for the construction industry.

Now, as CEO, Andrew continues to affirm a commitment to the same core values his father embedded over 40 years ago. Supported by a strong leadership team led by President, Wesley Drummond, today, J.M. Cope is recognized as one of the region’s most well-respected commercial construction firms in the Carolinas.
